The Founder's Story
Moving isn't just our business. It's in our blood.
Some people stumble into their calling. Our founder crossed the world to find his. Born and raised in Kazakhstan — one of the great nomadic nations of Central Asia — he grew up with movement woven into his very identity. For thousands of years, his ancestors moved across the vast Kazakh steppe with the seasons, packing up their yurts and relocating entire families and communities up to four times a year. Moving wasn't a chore. It was a way of life. It was survival. It was pride.
"My ancestors moved entire communities across the steppe for thousands of years. I just brought that same spirit to Arlington, Virginia — one truck at a time."
In 2018, he packed his own life into a single bag and moved to the United States — a country where he knew almost no one. Two years later, in the middle of a global pandemic, he launched BoxStar Movers with one truck and a dream. Not because it was the easy path. Because he understood, on a level most people never will, exactly what it feels like to move your life somewhere completely new. The hope. The uncertainty. The weight of every single box. That empathy became BoxStar's foundation. That understanding is why every team member is trained not just to move furniture, but to treat people with care. Today the company runs 10+ trucks, 50+ team members, and 4 locations across the DMV — and the same founding belief drives every move: your belongings deserve the same pride our ancestors brought to everything they carried.
